A MYTHICAL RIVIERA ADDRESS RETURNS

In the heart of Juan-les-Pins, a seaside resort now more vibrant than ever, one of its emblematic addresses is writing a new chapter. Le Vesuvio 1958 has reopened its doors after a complete renovation, bringing back to life a family story deeply rooted in the golden age of the French Riviera.
Founded in 1958 by Pierre and Henri Giordanengo, Le Vesuvio belongs to the memory of Juan-les-Pins, a town where elegance, music, cinema and Mediterranean pleasure have always met with natural ease. Today, the family saga continues with Jean-Jacques Gonzales and his daughter Lola Gonzales-Giordanengo, who are taking over this legendary restaurant with respect, emotion and a clear desire to preserve its soul while bringing it into the present.
Jean-Jacques Gonzales is a man of the field, shaped by experience, work and passion. His career began at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, where he discovered the world of luxury hospitality and fine service. He later continued his journey at the Hôtel Belles Rives in Juan-les-Pins, rising through the ranks over eighteen years before managing La Plage Le Provençal, which became one of the Riviera’s most sought-after beach restaurants. His return to Le Vesuvio 1958 therefore feels like a natural continuation: from one mythical address to another.
Lola Gonzales-Giordanengo brings her own story to the project. After business studies and time spent abroad, notably in Brazil and Africa, she returns to the family universe of hospitality with a modern and personal vision. Her childhood was filled with stories of Le Vesuvio, of Juan-les-Pins, and of the family’s festive legacy. The name itself was born during a trip to Naples, when her grandmother suggested “Le Vesuvio” to Henri Giordanengo, inspired by the famous volcano. In 1958, no restaurant in Cannes or Paris carried that name.

Entirely renovated, Le Vesuvio 1958 now reveals a sober, chic and luminous atmosphere. Located in the heart of Juan-les-Pins, only a few steps from the sandy beaches, the restaurant retains its original structure, traditional wood-fired oven, beams and red terrace canopy. Inside, white walls, terracotta and taupe velvet seating, cane details, immaculate table linens and warm natural tones create an elegant, harmonious and welcoming environment.
In the kitchen, Chef Jean-Laurent Depoil proposes an attractive and refined menu inspired by Mediterranean generosity. Guests will find Niçois petits farcis, octopus carpaccio with lime, rosemary-studded shoulder of lamb, the catch of the day, grilled king prawns, trofie with Genovese pesto or summer truffle, seafood linguine and wood-fired Roman-style pizzas with an exceptionally thin crust. Desserts, wines and champagnes complete the experience with the elegance expected from a true Riviera house.
With around 250 square metres, 80 seats indoors and 120 on the terrace, Le Vesuvio 1958 is designed for both intimate meals and lively summer evenings. Open seven days a week, it perfectly captures the renewed energy of Juan-les-Pins, a destination enjoying a fresh momentum through its renovated promenade, the Pinède, the revival of historic addresses and the continuing aura of Jazz à Juan.
Le Vesuvio 1958 is more than a reopening. It is the return of a family legend, a tribute to Riviera hospitality and a celebration of timeless Mediterranean art de vivre. More mythical than ever, it invites guests to rediscover Juan-les-Pins through taste, memory and elegance.
