Where Paris Meets Shanghai

At the intersection of two cultures and two visions of elegance, by FANG stands as a modern Couture maison, blending the artisanal heritage of China with the refinement of Paris. Founded by designer Fang Yang and entrepreneur Grégoire Caillol, the brand creates a dialogue between East and West, offering designs that are refined, bold, and rooted in exceptional savoir-faire.

From her childhood in Shanghai, Fang Yang was fascinated by zhezhi, the ancient art of paper folding. This discipline, combining rigor and poetry, became a lifelong source of inspiration. “I wanted to work with silk and fabrics the way I folded paper,” the designer recalls. After studying at ESMOD Paris and immersing herself in contemporary art, she launched her first ready-to-wear collection, Vernissage by Fang, in 2009, before founding the Couture maison by FANG in 2015.

At the heart of her universe, the fold is far more than an aesthetic flourish it is a true philosophy of life. Every crease, every curve, every volume emerges from a precise gesture that transforms material without constraining it. In her creations, light and shadow coexist in harmony, embodying a constant search for balance between strength and delicacy.

by FANG’s couture designs are characterized by sculptural forms, intricate constructions, and fluid silhouettes. Each piece is conceived as a wearable work of art, where memory blends with imagination and the past flows seamlessly into the future. In a world longing for authenticity, Fang Yang offers a singular vision: redefining couture to be freer, more expressive, and resolutely contemporary.

Alongside haute couture, the maison also develops a refined ready-to-wear line, an extension of its couture philosophy. These “couture-à-porter” collections translate the same sense of artistry and craftsmanship into versatile, day-to-evening looks designed for a cultivated clientele.

Today, with a presence in Paris, Shanghai, Riyadh, and other cosmopolitan hubs, by FANG has captured the hearts of an international audience in search of distinction and modern elegance. Between tradition and innovation, this Franco-Chinese house embodies the sophistication of a globalized world while remaining faithful to its essence: the art of folding as a universal language.
