State of Grace’ exhibition by Marcos MARÍN
Monumental sculptures in homage to friendship and love by Marcos MARÍN. The title of this exhibition plays cleverly with words, taking its inspiration from the first name ‘Grace’, the central and emblematic figure in this tale of friendship and emotion.
Recent studies show that friendship is essential to a long and fulfilling life, forming a fundamental pillar of our emotional balance. Marcos Marín, an artist renowned for his portraits celebrating humanity and its virtues, takes this view. Through his work, he pays tribute to the circle of friends of Grace Kelly, the actress who became Princess of Monaco, offering an artistic vision imbued with poetry and grandeur.
In February and March 2024, Monaco hosted this spectacular exhibition in the gardens of the Casino de Monte-Carlo. The installation, comprising 23 monumental sculptures 3 to 4 metres high, captivated visitors with its boldness and beauty. The works, a blend of kineticism and optical art, brought to life the faces of timeless icons from the golden years of cinema. Playing with the light as the hours passed, the sculptures created a visual experience in perpetual evolution, where infinite perspectives, emotion and beauty came together harmoniously.
Marcos Marín’s art has established itself as an essential signature on the Côte d’Azur, where he has numerous public sculptures in different cities. His most recent creations include the monument to Charles Aznavour, inaugurated in May 2024 in Nice, in the Square d’Arménie, as well as the sculpture dedicated to Maria Callas in Thessalonica, Greece, and his participation in the Venice Festival in Italy.
The ‘State of Grace’ exhibition explores Princess Grace’s friendships with a unique sensitivity, revisiting this theme from an angle that is both intimate and universal. This artistic journey has captivated all generations, including young people, rediscovering or discovering for the first time these iconic figures in our cultural history. Underlying the exhibition is an invitation to reflect on the value of friendship and to promote a loving and caring attitude.
Under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, and supported by SBM Monaco as well as numerous patrons and collectors, the exhibition is continuing its international expansion. In November 2024, it will be presented in Singapore, accompanied by a visit from Prince Albert II. In October 2025, it will be New York’s turn to host this monumental installation, extending its universal message around the world.
